Research Interests: Dr. Rhodes' research concentrates primarily on the kidney and lower urinary tract. She is most interested in determining the role of Tamm-Horsfall protein (THP) in health and disease. THP is the most abundant protein in mammalian urine; however, its function is unknown. Recently, Dr. Rhodes has been using biochemical and immunological techniques to investigate the interaction of THP with C1q, a key component of the classical complement pathway, which is involved in innate immunity. She also is interested in the binding of THP to immunoglobulins.
